Oceanside: Interfaith Veteran’s Housing
Description: Create two communal areas that will allow the veterans the ability to gather for social and informational sessions. No such areas exist now and veterans are just hanging out on the stairwells and landings. The capacity of this facility is 72 persons; there would be an incredible benefit for all residents if areas could be created for informal gatherings.
- General clean-up
- Addition of flower boxes & outdoor furniture, bbq, etc
- Pour Cement Pad
- Wall Murals
- Paint existing iron fence
- Purchase Micro-wave ovens for residents
- Replace stove vents
- Relocate dumpster or install fire barrier
- Repiar or replace kitchen cabinets
- Paint Apartments
- Install Flag Pole with Lighting
- A true acknowledgement to the veterans and an enhancement for the neighborhood would be the addition of a flag-pole. If electrical wiring is available lighting would mean that they could fly the American flag 24 hours. With or without the lighting this would be of tremendous importance to all.
