North Coast Church receives many questions about how we manage online registrations for community service.  In an effort to share what we have learned, we have created this demo area to demonstrate the features that ours system offers.

We use a powerful content management system called Typo3 and in particular, a pre-configured version of Typo3 that was customized for churches developed by www.webempoweredchurch.com.   There are hundreds of additional extensions that add functionality available for Typo3 and Web Empowered Church is in continually working on developing more extensions that are helpful to churches and organizations.  One of the extensions that we have found to be well suited to manage online registrations for projects is called Seminars.

With Typo3 and the extension Seminars, we were able to mobilize over 5000 people to serve in 139 projects at 70 different sites all in one weekend (www.weekendofservice.com).  We also use this system to manage community service projects throughout the year (see http://www.northcoastchurch.com/service).

Some of the features include:

• ability to fully customize the look of the site with your own graphics/logos/design.
• automatic new registration notifications via email to team leaders/organizers.
• customizable confirmation emails recieved by registrants.
• ability to download registrations in csv format that can be opened in excel.
• ability to set a timer on projects to display at a certain time and then be hidden once the event is over.
• ability to set number of openings and have it close automatically when full.
• ability for organizers/coordinators to be able to add their own events and view the list of registrants online.
• Web-based system - only requires internet access to use the system - no special software needed to enter new events.
• Typo3 is an open source system - meaning there is no cost for the software.  However there is a learning curve to set it up and configure for use.
